ALIX 2D0 and ROS 3.19

Sun Jan 18, 2009 7:22 pm

Hi all,

Been away for a while but back...
Trying ROS 3.19 with ALIX 2D0 (2 ether and 2 mini pci) and seems fine except it was a bit fussy about the CF card (I am using a spare 512 MB card)

I have licence it level 4 and extra channels - and all data is remembered on power off / reboot EXCEPT it seems to lose all interface IP addresses!!!

DCHP client, firewall, mangle, SSID all are remembered but interface IP goes..

It is a good job this is a test unit on my bench.. and I can access it via winbox and the ethernet mac.

Am I doing something silly, IS is a bad CF card (I could only really tell if i liecnece another!!) or is this a problem with 3.19 and ALIX??

I could downgrade I suppose - this is the first time I have tried 3. anything (used to 2.9.51)

Cheers and thanks for advice, Bill

OH well thanks for replies, it seems to have settled down and I shall bench test it to be sure the CF card does not fail....

Hi, any news on your problem ? I am actually considering to buy an ALIX board, but now I am hesitating a bit :-)

Hi,

It seems to have settled down and to be working fine..

I think the CF may have been dodgy.
I tried it with an IBM Microdrive (!!) 340 MB (an old one) and it worked first time.

It was just the hassle of getting the CF to 'take' the Netinstall - it did not want to work always.
It now seems to remember ok..

The key as posted earlier is:

a) netinstall to CF
b) put in ALIX
c) if it's ok the ethernet interfaces come up then GO for about 2 to 10 minutes!!
d) when the ethernet reappears you are ready to go.

That's my experience anyway..

Cheers.
