hi! I will be a little long, sorry but please take your time to read it, I think it will worth it...
A few days ago we realised that packet numbers are rising, we torched to find out: it's UDP traffic generated by 2-3 customer (until now). The new alpha version uTorrent is generating UDP traffic, BUT the real problem is that it's generating VERY little packets: size around 300 bytes. That means that one customer could generate easily 4-600 packet/s with only 1-3Mbit/s.
This is easy: uTorrent developers wanted to simulate VoIP traffic to gain more bandwidth.
I think becaouse of encryption MT cannot detect this as P2P traffic.. But this packet number ruins our WiFi sectors, one B/G sector cannot stand out this packet numbers.. In forums I read about home (!!!) WiFi routers ruined (with DOCSIS subscription, not WiFi)!
Did You face with this problem? What was Your solution?
It could be so easy, using the TOS (type of service) attribute of the IP packets..
I think I could limit the packet number/sec per customer.. How could I set this?
p.s.: i don't want to write about uTorrent but I have my opinion..
