WAN Failover

Tue Mar 03, 2009 10:01 pm

Hello,
i have a RB450 with a directly connected CM(standard IP) and there's a wireless router with a ADSL connection.
the RB is 192.168.1.2
the router 192.168.1.1

right now, when the CM goes poof, users need to manually change heir DF gateway and it works.

how can i make it so that RB does this automatically for all kinds of traffic?(WAN link failover)

i want to keep the other router as is for safeward(as it's foolproof and it's been working for ages)

There is an example of this in the Wiki.

i've been searching the wiki prior to posting and haven't found it(the wiki has a lot of unlinked pages, it should be easier to navigate from the root, yet....)
one thing a friend mentioned is getting the 2nd gateway with a higher metric than the CM one.

that's all nice, but how do i do gateway ping check on the main gateway if it's assigned by DHCP?(CM address provided by DHCP), it can't be set statically at all.
all i see is the gateway created dynamically but nothing to edit in there, how do i ping check that?
