Fonts missing after upgrade from 3.0rc3 to 3.1

Thu Jan 22, 2009 12:28 pm

Hi to all,

I have a Dude server installed in a RB1000 monitoring about 50 mikrotik devices. I upgrade this Dude from the 3.0rc3 version to the 3.1 stable, and the problem is the the devices now with te appaerance in blank. Reviewing the configurations, I see that in the "Font" section appears without font, and with the label "unknown". I don't explain very well, see the image:

Any advice?

Thanks in advance

Ok, I solve the problem.

The Dude version that I installed (3.1) is not compatible the ROS version of the MT (3.13, and the Dude in only compatible with ROS 3.17 and avobe).

I installed the 3.0b8 and works OK. I try to install the latest version of the ROS in this MT, but is a little unstable :S

The problem continues.

I have installed in this RB1000 the 3.2 version os the ROS and The Dude, and the appaerance is exactly the same, the text not appears because the program not detect any font installed.

Anybody knows a solution for this?

Hello,

I solved the proble the past week, but I forget put here the solution. I'm sorry.

Now, the way I solved this.

I make a backup of the Dude and download to my PC. Then I edited the .xml with a program calle Notepad++. I search for a reference to the used fonts in the backup and I find this line:
<NetworkMapElement>
  <sys-type>1018</sys-type>
  <sys-id>39110</sys-id>
  <sys-name>[Device.Name]\0d\0a[Device.FirstAddress]\0d\0aCPU: [oid("1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.1")]%\0d\0a\0d\0a[Device.RosVersion]</sys-name>
  <itemID>39109</itemID>
  <itemX>1090</itemX>
  <itemY>1402</itemY>
  <itemUseLabel>yes</itemUseLabel>
  <itemUpColor>1BD011</itemUpColor>
  <itemDownPartialColor>FF8000</itemDownPartialColor>
  <itemDownCompleteColor>FF0606</itemDownCompleteColor>
  <itemUnknownColor>D2D2D2</itemUnknownColor>
  <itemAckedColor>2B95FF</itemAckedColor>
  <itemFont>0B0000000000000000000000000000009001000000000001000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000</itemFont>
 </NetworkMapElement>
But with the difference that in my case the last line (the <itemFont> command) have a numeric code completely different. I search and copy the same line in another .xml backup from another Dude server that no have this problem and change this line in the problematic backup.

Al last upload the new backup tho the server, reboot, and now works fine, whit this font:

I expect that this help you to solve the problem.

I tried this but after reboot I couldn't connect again and CPU was running at 100%. After deactivating and reactivating the dude package it's working now but still no fonts... :(

Any other idea how to resurrect fonts after upgrading 3.0rc3 to 3.1???

Here is what worked for me to restore the fonts:

Open Dude client.

In the tree on the left side, find files, menu-click on it (typically the right mouse button), and select "Open Separately".

In the new dialog that appears, click on + sign.

In the file requester, navigate to dude font location, on my system this is "c:\Program Files\dude\data\files"

Highlight/select the font files, with the .ttf extension, and the TT icon. In my case, I have arial.ttf, lucon.ttf, Vera.ttf, and VeraMono.ttf (although arial and lucon are empy 0 length files, hm.)

click "Open", wait for them to finish uploading. Close files dialog, close Dude client.

Re-open Dude client, everything was fine at this point.

I went ahead and uploaded the 0 length ones as well (I didn't notice they were empty til after I did it), but I don't know if you actually need to.

Re: Fonts missing and invalid OID

I also had to do a similar procedure to fix the missing/invalid oids, using the Mib Nodes entry on the left, and the files tab of the resulting dialog, and all the contents of:

"c:\Program Files\dude\data\files\mibs"

(In particular, you want mikrotik.txt if you're using The Dude with RouterOS nodes).

I had this problem on a v4b3 Dude server that I uploaded a 3.6 backup. Note that 3.6 backup does not work on 3.6 Dude. Via the Dude interface things appeared normal, but on the map export (either automated PNG or clicking map on the WWW interface) gave me no words, just green boxes.

I took DroidSans.ttf (this was from the Android SDK, a readily available TTF) and uploaded it to the root dir of files. Specified that and fixed it.

FYI: android-sdk-windows\platforms\android-3\data\fonts
