firewall rules in ppp local profiles

Tue Jul 12, 2005 2:58 am

Hello list, i´m a bit lost trying to configure some filters in ppp profiles. I'm using 2.8 RouterOS licensed with LEVEL-4

I have created one chain for each profile, and configured it in the profile properties as "incoming filter" (p.e. chain "mail", chain "http", etc.).
When a user logs in, nothing happens (no traffic match those chains).
Reading in documentation, it says:
"Incoming-filter (name; default: "") - firewall chain name for incoming packets. If set, then for each packet coming from the client, this firewall chain will get control. You have to manually add chain ppp and jumps to this chain from other chains in order this feature to work"

I don't understand where do I have to create those Jumps, and where do I have to point them.

I hope somebody can help me!

You should understand chains meaning.
http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.8/ip ... ent#6.35.4

input - information that goes and directed only for router.
forward - information that goes through router, it mean to or from your customers for example.

I understand the meaning of input/output/forward chains, what I don't understand is where do I have tu add a Jump chain.

If I add it in the forward chain, do I have to add one jump for each chain I made (aprox. 5 chains, one for each profile)?
Which traffic should match that Jump?
If I have to specify exactly the traffic that should "Jump", Why not create the rules directly in the forward chain?
