it won't work mate.
you're not looking to make money, you're looking to spend unnecessary money.

multiple sectorized AP's. You won't pull that off with a single system. You're looking at a major network build out.

It is possible with ROS, but the USB clients are a nightmare.

on the other hand why don't you go 802.11n.
try MIMO. some of the latest laptops are N enabled and appears that multipath propagation is a bonus in N. it'll work on Near LOS

use ROS with N cards (any), multiple APs using 2 or 3 sectors or onmis per AP and as a client you can use one of the folowing:
http://www.ubnt.com/products/sr71usb.php
http://www.ubnt.com/products/sr71c.php
http://www.ubnt.com/products/sr71x.php
the beauty is, N is backwards compatible so A/G devices will still connect

let us know, it might work. :)
the only thing is: give USB or PCMCIA option to a customer and it will try to use the internet in the basements or in Non LOS - so you'll have your phone ringing 24/7 for not working. I believe MESH is what you need but the throughput will be poor.

wireless networks on 2.4 or 5 are not made for mobility.
try using 900 MHZ if you have that freq free... if not, go WIMAX.

regards,
Steven

PS - functionality depends on your environment, foliage, other providers in the area, hundreds of other factors.
i'm sure you can find some useful whitepages to read on WiFi Alliance and WIMAX forum web sites.
