MT 2.9rc7 unable to boot

Thu Jul 21, 2005 7:54 pm

I installed MT 2.9rc7 on a laptop computer for testing purposes. Although the installation went through smoothly, the system will not boot. It just cycles.

The computer is an IBM TP 600E with a Pentium II processor.

BTW, I had MT 2.8.26 working fine on the same computer before.

Has anybody had the same problem?

By cycle I mean:

1- I turn on the PC
2- The computer does memory scan, loads BIOS, etc
3- The screen displays "Loading system"
4- The screen gets black
5- The computer goes back to step 2

I downloaded the CD image from MT Web site (http://www.mikrotik.com/download_rc.html) and burned it. I already installed it on the computer several times. I only install the system package. What is NS version?

Thanks,
juibar

Try to reinstall your router.

I reinstalled v2.9rc7 several times and got the same result. I reinstalled v2.8.26 back on the same computer and it booted normally.

There is definitely a problem with my v2.9rc7 install. Is it possible that my CD image is corrupted somehow? Is there a way of checking the integrity of the file I downloaded?

Thank you,
juibar

I did everything over: download, burn and install... same result.

Now it's official: my computer does not support MT v2.9rc7. I'll have to stick to v2.8.26. :(
