5 GHz Link Failures / Trace possible?

Sun Jul 31, 2005 10:49 pm

Hello,

The last two days, two of my P2P-Links went down. Signalstrength used to be about -75 dbm. Suddenly, signalstrengh continuously got more worse.
- 1 hour later: 82 dbm
- 2 hours later: 88 dbm
- 3 hours later: 92 dbm
- 4 hours later: no link.

One day before, we had a big thunder-storm. Therefore I thought that some routerboards were damaged. I changed the hardware of one p2p link, but no success. I checked cable and antennas, but I could not find any failure. Therefore I changed hardware back to the old one.

24 hours after the link went down (6 hours after I finished my checks), both links went up again with -75 dbm. No hardware damaged.

Is it possible, that atmospherics caused this error? I would like to make a wlan-trace or something else. Is this possible with Mikrotik-OS? I could not find a similar option.

Is it also possible, to watch the noise-level with Mikrotik OS? Only thing I always see, is signal-strenth, but no noise-level.

Thank you in advance.
Stefan.

Link-Failures

Meanwhile, I heard from two further 5 GHz P2P-projects (all in germany), having the same problem in the last 48 hours.

On of them, using Lancom-components, upgrated his firmware to solve this problem. The new firmware is optimized for radar problems.

Is there anybody else, observing simliar probles with his p2p-links in the last 48 hours?
