Saving Config

Wed Jul 29, 2009 6:54 pm

This may sound like a stupid question, but does the Dude auto save the configuration or does this have to be done manually.

Yesterday I installed two new switches in one of our TC Closets. When returning to the office I added them to the Dude and set up the Probes/Services on them. The server that hosts the Dude was rebooted during the night after receiving WSUS updates and when I came to work this morning the two switches I added yesterday as well as some other recent changes were gone. All devices, probes, etc that were added over the past few weeks are still there, but all the work done yesterday, and possibly Monday is gone. Is there a setting to auto save at a certain interval that I missed?

Ditto.... I am a fairly new dude user. I love it so far, however I put about three days worth of work on maps, devices, etc and today someone rebooted the server to load some patches and nearly everything was gone.

Am I to assume to save your work you just need to do an export or is there another way to write the changes to disk?

Does exiting the program write the changes to disk?

Thanks,
Eric

From what I can tell, there's no way to auto-export or auto-backup in Dude (as of this post latest version 3.4).

Is exporting the same as saving? Or when you leave the dude does it do a save?

One of the things you might want to do is create a backup using a scheduled task.
