Dual Polarization Antenna Connection Question

Fri Aug 14, 2009 6:13 am

With R52N running in 5Ghz N mode only hooked to dual polarized antenna are the two radios talking to one another (for backhaul for instance) the antenna connections are supposed to be the same on both sides?

Radio A
R52N connector 1 to H connector 2 to V

Radio B
R52N connector 1 to H connector 2 to V

This works fine in the lab but when deployed it will matter if it isn't right. Does N care how they are connected, are they supposed to be opposite or the same?

NEXT QUESTION
If I use the R52N for B/G/A modes I assume it only uses one ufl connector... Which one would that be they do not seem to be labeled. Thanks

Scott

you need to play which of the setups are working for you better.

About B/G/A, you can also use 2 connectors at the same time if you specify both chains.
J2 is the first chain and J3 is the second chain.

Can you explain a bit more indepth what is actually happening? The card in b/g/a is just one radio. Is the radiowave now transported to the both chains and thus if connected to two antenna's? These antenna are now 100% parrallel working?
(considered the same antenna's and the same lenght of same cable I expect interference problems between the two radio waves?)

I can understand "N" can deal with that, it is made for that kind of use. But a/b/g?
It looks to me only one connector should use in these modes?

yes, both chains can be configured to work at the same time also in A/B/G mode, so you will get something like antenna diversity feature using such setup.
