User Manager Download

Wed Aug 19, 2009 7:17 pm

Hello,

I´m really new at mikrotik and I would like to know how to donwload the User Manager for version 3.11. I don´t mind in upgrading any other version but I would like to know where to donwnload it, I was reading another post where I can download it from Downlad-> Select System type->All packages but I just see All systems, is that the same? and should I donwload something of the All system files?

Thank you

Does it the zip bundle contain a file named 'user-manager-<version>-<platform>.npk'?

Yes, it does, and I uploaded to the router with filezilla
I was trying to create the admin user, but it comes with it already.
I have a question, I am reading the wiki Mikrotik, about the configuration of the user manager, but I can´t understand one thing, it talks about a server and a client, and that´s the part where I am having confusions

I have one mikrotik router, is that one the server or the client?....because when I am trying to read about PPPoE it talks about configuration on the client side, does it mean that I have to have 2 routers? one for server and one for client using user manager in both routers? or I just can use one router with user manager to use the functions of creating the client users and their passwords like the hotspot but with the billing functions?

sorry if my question is a little messy, let me know if you want me to be more clear
Thanks for your help

Read http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/User_Manager for setup information. Hotspot/PPPoE are the client and User Manager is the server, but both can live on the same device, in which case the server IP is a local IP. From a service point of view, it's still client/server, and that's why that verbiage is used.

Hi Felix,

I have another question, I think i am doing good with the configuration, but i still have a problem, I assigned the hotspot as a radius client and all that is done, but when I want to enter to the configuration via web browser, the manual says that i have to put this http://router-ip/userman, i know the router-ip, but i can´t figure out what is USERMAN....

I´ll tell you what i have so far as the users
I have added a customer but that one seems that is not the userman,

do you have any idea with that problem?

thanks a lot for your responses

I'm not sure I understand the question. It means to go to "http://router-ip/userman" in a browser, replacing "router-ip" with the IP of your router, or a DNS name that points towards it. If your router carries 6.6.6.6, go to "http://6.6.6.6/userman".

Make sure you have the www service under "/ip service" enabled.

i can´t figure out what is USERMAN....
You do not have to replace userman by anything. An example: http://userman.mt.lv/userman

Hi,

when i open the consolo I can see that the user manager is working (or at least I think it is), because i can see the properties, and I can see the admin user that comes for default, I also created another user called hotspot_admin, and I can see that with the shared-secret,

my problem comes in the configuration via web-browser, because I set the ip address of the router as 192.168.2.1, and when I open the browser, the hotspot page pops up, but when I write in the browser
http://192.168.2.1/userman gives me an error ERROR 404: NOT FOUND

i made sure that there is no user for hotspot, cause I want to create the users via user manager, but I can´t access the configuration via web browser

do you guys have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks a lot for your responses
