QoS with IPIP Tunnels

Mon Aug 24, 2009 5:27 pm

Hi all

I've run into a bit of an issue, when setting up my new QoS setup.
Using the following pdf guide here, http://mum.mikrotik.com/presentations/C ... _Megis.pdf, I've managed to setup a nice working QoS system on my test bed in the office. The issue I'm having when implementing it for real on our network is the shaper RB has clients routed to it via a large amount of IPIP Tunnels.

On the test bed I simply selected one of the ethernet interfaces as the Parent for my Total Down queue tree, but if I select the ethernet interface of the shaper it will only pickup the IP addresses from the IPIP tunnels and not the IPs of the actual clients themselves. These IPs only appear on the IPIP Tunnel interfaces.

Can anyone suggest something that will help me get this working correctly?

Thanks in advance.

The logic behind the solution can be adopted from this example: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Queue_Tre ... interfaces Good luck.

P.S. but this example will help if the IPIP tunnels are terminated on the QoS machine.

If they only pass through it, well... you should change your network design so that the tunnels are terminated on the QoS machine and maybe re-established again from it.

Thanks that sorted me out.

I just setup conn and packet marks for both up and down. Then switched my Total Download queue from one of the ethernet interfaces to the gobal-out interface.

Thanks again.
