IPOD Touch Doesn't Redirect after login

Sat Oct 24, 2009 4:25 pm

IPOD Touch doesn't redirect after login via Hotspot.

Has anyone experienced this before. I've noticed that for whatever reason the IPOD Touch, and I'm assuming IPhone do not redirect after logging in. Safari on my other MAC's work fine, and redirect after logging in, but not so with the IPOD Touch.

Any assistance would be appreciated if someone has a solution.

We do quite a bit of testing with them - no problems here with iPod Touch, iPod Touch 2G, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS (all running the latest firmware) on Hotspots with 3.28, 3.29, 3.30 and 4.1.

Do you mean that you get the login page and enter credentials, but then don't get redirected to anywhere? Check whether your Hotspot Profile has an address pool configured, there's a bug in recent versions that doesn't deal gracefully with redirecting the client "after the IP address changes", though it's supposed to be fixed in very recent RouterOS versions. Try either upgrading or setting the address pool to "none" (which will also turn off Universal NAT - but for me that feature leads to more problems than it's worth, anyway).

I had the same thing happen to me. Check your NATs then filter rules. Make sure DNS is getting through. My issue was my NAT was wrong. I could log in but would sit and not do anything after that. I'm writing this from my ipod touch logged into my mtik hotspot. :)
