Extremely low signal problem

Thu Nov 05, 2009 10:45 pm

I have two units on my test bench. Each have RB6000A with RB52n cards. 4.2 Software on each unit.
The units are sitting 4 feet apart from each other with 5.0GHz antennas connected and pointing at each other.
I set them up as AP bridge and station. Everything else defaulted.
The signal levels are so low they can not stay connected. -87dBm
I have swapped roles and still get the same low signal.
Can both cards be faulty? Is there something else I need to do to get full power?

Attached is the scan from the station showing the AP signal at the station with the scan tool.

Also a picture of the unit.

Is you enable the right R52N RF port?
from the photo, you just using 1 port, then you have to check out, chain1 or chain2 the antenna connected?

If I change HT (in winbox) from chain0 to chain1 on either unit there is no association.
Changing antenna-mode has no effect either.

0 R name="wlan1" mtu=1500 mac-address=00:0C:42:60:FE:3F arp=enabled
interface-type=Atheros 11N mode=station ssid="MikroTik" frequency=5785
band=5ghz scan-list=default antenna-mode=ant-a wds-mode=disabled
wds-default-bridge=none wds-ignore-ssid=no default-authentication=yes
default-forwarding=yes default-ap-tx-limit=0 default-client-tx-limit=0
hide-ssid=no security-profile=default compression=no

I am unable to find the terminal session commands for HT

if you want to try which chain suppose to use, you should key in the ap frequency into the station scan list table.

This to make the station associate more faster (just scan 1 frequency).
