Multiple gateway with ADSL does not work

Fri Aug 26, 2005 1:38 pm

I am trying to use multiple gateways on ADSL to allow for more bandwidth. The one adsl router is on 196.36.x.x/29 range. The other is on 10.0.0.0/24 range. (one has public ip, other doesnt). My defualt route that i made was : destination = 0.0.0.0/0 -- gateway = 196.36.x.x & 10.0.0.2.
When i enable the route my internet does not work. When only one of them is a gateway, it works. Only other setting is Firewall = NAT = srcnat (action = masquerade)

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

If you can't ever get it to work, you can pay Skycom1 penny's to bond it for you and then you will have one big pipe. UP AND DOWN. Plus you can get IP's from Skycom1 to use on your network:)

It will not work with MT correctly. ECMP is not connection orientated :( If you use proxy, it will not work at all without special policy routing scripting (described somewher in this forum), but proxy will use only one gateway. Use policy routing.

No Skycom1 around here. So that won't help.

I would think other people have run into this issue since many are doing load balancing. Are we the only ones???
Where are you located and who is your internet provider?

The bonding service will work on anyone's ADSL, T1, or Cable service. The location is not an issue, the latency is. So if your not to many hopes away it will work great.
