rb750g downgrade problem

Mon Dec 14, 2009 1:30 pm

I noticed the rb750g's come with v3.31 by default, as I dont know this version I downgraded to v3.30 which i trust...however in doing so the board no longer responds to ping webbox or winbox scan

Is there a way of getting this working again or is it game over / lession learnt etc?

how did you manage to downgrade the firmware? anyway, you must use the reset button as described in the RB750 manual. did you try both the reset and the netinstall sequence?

I would like to emphasize for you and everyone else:

don't downgrade RouterBOARD RouterOS below the version it was shipped with.

I downgraded using the upgrade command in terminal.

Well after much reseting rebooting etc i got into the os on eth4 via mac address.

I have upgraded it to V4.3 for testing.

There is something dodgy about this whole 3.31 thing, on the download page the rb700 lists 3.30 as the latest.

3.31 must add some support for the rb750/g.. right? is 3.31 the first release for the rb750/g?

It has been said that 3.31 IS 3.30 + support for RB750G.

I am using a 411AH and it came preinstalled with ROS 3.31

I want to replace a sector that is running 3.30 and wireless test package.

I need to load the wireless test package onto the new board as I need RTS-CTS function (many hidden nodes) and hardware / management protection and this is only available on the wireless test package. Wireless test package is unavailable for version 3.31

Please make the wireless test package available for 3.31 as I do not wish to upgrade to version 4.x

Thanks

Shane

I don't see why you couldn't downgrade a 411AH to 3.30 and use the wireless-test package there?

Touché

Still I don't see what could have possibly changed within the 411AH design what would make ROS 3.31 mandatory.
Especially when taking into account that some distributors upgrade the RBs they deliver as a free service when you only order a few pcs.
If it doesn't work, one could still use netinstall since that board at least has a serial port.

So is there any way to tell if the RB was already upgraded by someone or if the installed ROS version is factory default?

If you buy directly from MikroTik, you can see the RouterOS version number and some details about it in the "Shipments" section in your mikrotik.com account.

If you buy from a reseller, you could give him the Serial number and he could tell you, if it's so important to you.
