Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're asking: Either configure them as primary and secondary on all clients and deal with the timeouts on the primary when it goes away; or run the caching DNS server on the router with those two as primary and secondary and configure clients to use the router as a DNS server and potentially transparently proxy other requests - you may still need to flip them on the router during an outage but you can script that with netwatch and it's only one change on one device.

Alternatively you can transparently NAT client DNS requests to whatever you want, but I think running a local caching resolver has more benefits.

Re: keeping 2 dns on the network

the whole problem is this. the are two different dns on the network 192.168.1.1,192.168.1.1 and 4.2.2.2,80.87.76.36. now what i want to do is this,

i want a situation where if the internet link using the first dns goes off i dont have to change the dns in all the client radio but the still browse the new link.
that is if there is some sort of table where i can put the 2 dns in each radio so it resolves by itself or anything i can do cos its too much work for me to go 1by 1 change each clients dns

pls i hope this is clear
