Mikrotik need VPDN!

Sun Dec 27, 2009 1:01 pm

Why Mikrotik still have no response on VPDN support? :? We love Mikrotik routers, we have deployed handers of them over past two years, but due to the missing support of the VPDN (LAC/LNS) we have to go back get a CISCO router to Terminated the L2TP tunnels form our xDSL customers which delivered by BT. We really like to see VPDN support, Mikrotik please do it!

Merry Christmas All!

The feature is on our to-do list, but there is no any information when the support for the feature will be added.

Thanks for the replay, we hope the is on the top of the to do list :D

By the way, we did some test with our network here to run Mikrotik as LNS, it works with no L2TP tunnel authentication on the LAC,Customer PPP sessions are all works fine until someone reboot they ADSL modem or the ADSL line drops, when those happens the client PPP(L2TP) session stay on the RouterOS forever  , RouterOS software didn’t send keep alive check of something is missing here. So our test result is very much like this guy’s post http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php ... &hilit=lns .

Hopefully the test information will help you guys implement the VPDN function.

Hoping to see something on this working soon. Will be redoing the network and would like to get rid of the Cisco that it's only function is to provide L2TP termination for our DSL customers. Would rather have the primary Mikrotik router doing all the work, will make for a much simpler network configuration.

It's good to hear that VPDN is on the to-do list, once this and VTI/Tunnel interfaces are added to RouterOS's IPSEC I will be very happy.
