Feature request: Background wireless scanning

What about to implement background wireless scanning? Madwifi has it. It scans various wireless frequency when device is not under heavy load.

We have only active scan currently. Wireless interface enters to special mode (all wireless interfaces are disconnected). Currently there are plans to change it.

Background scanning would be a feature that's VERY welcome....
