I got to be honest, I'm trying all I can on Google and Mikrotik Wiki, forums and etc. But I'm too confused to where do I go, so I really need a little light (where to go?)
I got a RB1000 running on the last stable OS version. I'll try to resume my questions:
Say that we got a Strix (http://www.strixsystems.com) mesh and we want the RB1000 to do the accounting and manage the wireless access trough mac addresses AND username/pw (depending on customer cases).
1 - We want to account the data usage to each customer. We will use a billing script, sounds allright. Which way should I setup the Router? I guess is just the user manager and IP accounting should do the stuff, is it?
2 - Do I need a radius server? I'm very confused on how do I setup and why I should setup (or not?) a radius server. And I only have the option on windows machines, like freeradius.net. But if you tell be that I dont really need a Radius server for my case, that would be actually easier.
3 - Will this setup allow me to separate some users, like for example: a guy with laptop on the office. He won't be asked for a password because the "client box" sitting on this office is logged on our network and billing to this office. But say now that this guy with the laptop go to the restaurant and log on our hotspot. If this happens then I want him to have a login and password. I'm pretty sure this is possible, but which kind of setup do I need?
Again, sorry for those questions but I'm really confused.
PS: My licenses says that I have something like 1 or 5 days configuration support. Is this on the forum?
