Active Hotspot Users - "No More Sessions Allowed"

Tue Jan 19, 2010 7:40 pm

We have a login page that people go through and logon to the wireless network. They are able to login with user name and password that they created and sign in. We have people that show as an active user and with the same mac address it brings up the login page for them and then they try and sign in and get the error no more sessions allowed. They should not get the login page if that mac address is associated to an active account but they still do. There are other times where they just open the internet and it takes them to the internet like it should but is not currently working for all people. The problem is that when the login page comes up they think that they have to log in again. Sometimes it will show up with the same mac address in the active users with the same username twice. Which they are able to login off the login page because they are only logged in once it will let them. What most of these people do is just close out there browser and then when they try and get on later and then they will login again thinking that they were not logged in. Is there another way to make sure the login page does not come up for them if they have an active mac address in the active hotspot list.

I have a similar issue. If you go into the Hosts list in the hotspot you will find the user has more than 1 ip address trying to authenticate against the MAC. The wan IP of the CPE and one other from the Lan side of the CPE. everything is fine unless the LAN ip authenticates before the WAN IP. The only way I have found to resolve this is to manually go into the hosts list and remove all entries for the mac in question. the User will then re authenticate correctly. I have tried setting the hotspot to allow 1 ip only that failed as did allowing more than 1 (default is 2). This Only appears happens with MK CPE's. I have no issue with other types of CPE on my network. I cannot understand how the Lan IP gets registered I would have though the NAT would prevent that but it doesn't. Maybe someone can else can help here. The CPE is set up as a bog standard NAT router.

Hi Woodmi,

If you would like users to connect to your hotspot and simulate a clean internet without the use of a hotspot page everytime a user close a session, there is an option in the hotspot tab called IP BINDINGS where you can specify the mac address and the ip u'r assingining to the user, and that person won't be asked for the username and password.
Hope that helped.
