I need to establesh point to point wireless link with 6.5 Km in Baghdad/IRAQ , in both ends i have RB433 , R52H and Mikrotik Flat panel 20 db , my configuration is transparent bridged like this exampl in wiki : http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Transpare ... o_Networks

i have two towers at both ends first the AP , the twoers is placed on Building with 6 M hieght and the tower is 30M , i have install my fltapanal at 12 Meter " i.e. 18 M from the ground " , the other point is 19 Meter from the ground .

The Freq is 5GHz ,, i have tried another chanels and its didn't help , i made atest with shorter distance " 900 meter and its was ok "

i have made fine tunning and the direction is 100% correct fof the LOS in both ends , but the problem that i can not have lock ,, can any one advice whats the wrong .. is there something with the configuration ? am i need more hieght ? any post may help is highly appreciated .

Have u enable WDS/Bridge in ur AP. Perhaps ur client end has WDS enabled but AP end is not. If LOS is clear there should not be any issue.

IF WDS bridge is enabled check for wds mode and the frequency channel u hav selected. It should be same for both sides to communicate.also the SSID

its same ,, i have test it with shorter link only 900 Meter .. same configuration and it was working fine .

i just make the flatpanel hiegher at the AP and install the other side then i didn't able to lock the p2p link

IF WDS bridge is enabled check for wds mode and the frequency channel u hav selected. It should be same for both sides to communicate.also the SSID

Your problem could be the pannel. It's a sectorial antenna. You need an unidirectional antenna, a grid, something.

valypetre is correct. i missed it tht u had panel for both sides. u need a grid at both ends to sort it. 2-3 km link is good on panel . not beyond dat hence it wrk for u @ 900 mtr

the panel antennas (20 dbi) with r52h should be able to handle 6.5 kilometers very well even more use a link calculator

You may have a problem with 1 of the antennas... for 900m it is possible to see each other without antenna (cable only)
Try changing one of the antennas and then other.
I advice you to place more directional antennas (grid or dish.
That way you have more antenna gain and you can make really good results.
I have a 5km p2p link with 2x 60cm dishes and i reached 80mbits with 5ghz-N.
On 5ghz-turbo i reached 40mbits with a grid and 90cm dish on same distance.

You 100% have a hardware problem but even without it you will reach much less then it is possible with that equipment.

I've got AP's with 12-15dBi omni and CPE's with 19dBi panels that pull over 10 miles (16km). I don't think distance is an issue with two 20dBi panels.

I think I would start with one as AP bridge or just bridge, one as station, then once the link is up, then set the client as WDS Station. I have run into weird setups with Bridge to Bridge.

distance would depend a lot on ur landscape (may be u guys hv base stations located on hill tops etc.) and whr interference is not an issue. Est a 3-4 km link at 2.4 Ghz wld be extremely difficult if thr r multiple operators, atleast this is wht i hv exp.

no all antennas are givving specificated db ... all time when You choose antenna make +10db, price between them 10-15$, but guarantee that i'll work more than whith cheaper ones.
for example: someone will use 28dbi antennas, and your link will be down due interference (and 6.5km long)

@8km I had 27dbi @2.4ghz some time ago with linksys wap54g at work
nodays i changed at 28dbi parabol+mikrotik R5H@8km

You are wondering to have stable link, arent you? :D

if u r getting -67/80 at 900 mtr on such antenna how do u expect the link to work at 6 km. i dont think u can. Something is wrong with your antenna or UFL or ur CARD

with 900 meter ,, the AP was on hieght 15 Meter from the ground and the Client on 10 Meter from the ground

now for 6.5 Km the AP on 21 Meter and the clinte on 20 Meter

is there something i have to do with the elevation ? as my direction is 100% right

if u r getting -67/80 at 900 mtr on such antenna how do u expect the link to work at 6 km. i dont think u can. Something is wrong with your antenna or UFL or ur CARD

As i told you before, you have a hardware problem.
And your signals are not the same...so you have a problem with 1 side of the link.
Check antennas, Cables and cards (change them! ).
Nothing wrong with elevation...just change the equipment.

from my calculations you should have around -60 to -70 signal level with that equipment on a 6.5km link. I'm pretty sure something's wrong with at least one side of the link.
Check with a multimeter the antenna diversity switch of the cards, it shouldn't be 0 ohm to ground. Pay attention to the decoupling capacitor.

Hi

is the big diffrence between the two signals means hardware issue at one of the sides ?
