I purchased the 750 to use for our intranet. I have 4 computers on it, connect to a 12Meg Cable modem.

When I use the Bandwidth test and the Mikrotik windows bt software, Im getting only 24.5 M test down, and less then 15 up. Ive checked all 4 computers, and even used different cables. Is this because the 750 doesnt have as large of a processor?! YIKES!

How are you testing? Is the 750's involvement in the bandwidth test as an endpoint (it takes a lot of processing power to generate or answer packets), or does it just forward traffic between two other endpoints?

I just turned on the BT Server on the RouterBoard, and am using the BT client program for windows from Mikrotik. and thats my max im seeing.. would think should be closer to 80+Meg on a 100Meg Network

As I said, it takes a lot of processing power to receive or generate packets on the router. During normal traffic, you'd never push 100 megs to the router itself, you'd push 100 megs through the router, which is a completely different scenario. Run the bandwidth test program on two PCs connected through the router and test traffic between the PCs.

ok that makes a little more sense.. but still... my 450 shows 75+ MEG

(both tested with only 1 computer connected. nothing else)

The 450 is faster. It has a better pipeline.
