RouterBoard 532 takes too much current, D18 smokes

Mon Mar 29, 2010 6:21 pm

Hi!

I've a few years old RB 532, the original release which had the jumpers for 12v/48v and for POE/Jack DC

the other power supply I used seems to be smart and has some kind of current limiter, that simply turns off (disables the DC out)
now I tried a Linksys WRT54GL power supply, it smokes at D18... the status leds are up for 1seconds after that off.

is there a way to repair this board?
the reseller told me, if its over warranty time then there's no way to repair at all.

please help
Regards,

Ok. D18 seems to be a current/voltage limiter zener
