Hi all,
It's great the MT supports dongles .... but it is not easy!!
I have Huawei E160, E169 and E180 - all unlocked.
And sims for UK 3 network, T-Mobile and others.
All work fine on laptops..
However on X-86 - version 4.6 (latest I think) I have not had any luck..
a) The USB dongles ARE recognized as PPP-out, client.
b) I can enter the APN and PIN etc...
c) However firstly I get the error 'serial port cannot be captured'. This goes away after a time...
d) Dialing - *99# is the 'normal' number and works on a 3G enabled router and a Draytek. It does not work on MT
e) I get dialing - user ATD not recognised - disconnecting.
f) I tried entering a modem init string, but I can't get RID OF IT!! I clear the modem init field but I still get 'modem initialising - AT+CGDCONT=1' not recognised - error..
g) I have searched the forum and tried the *999+1 whatever it was (can't remember) for the number to dial, but no luck.
h) I find if I remove the modem from USB port, the router tends to lockup...
i) The router itself is a Jetway J7F4K - embedded pc board with two giga lans.. And 512 MB memory. It really flies and I don't think that is the problem as I have sucessfully run MT on a wide variety of wierd PC platforms. I note it here for reference.. It has 4 usb ports, an extra ethercard and a R2n card.
Any thoughts please - I have given up for now, but a GPRS/3G dongle is a great idea for backup.
Cheers and thanks..
