Problem with Wireless Bridging

Mon Aug 09, 2004 11:19 pm

Hi,

I'm new to Mikrotik and have just started rec'd two of their Routerboards. (Firmware Vers : 2.8.11). One is the client package, and the other an AP package. I have already managed to get the system working using the AP-Bridge and Station mode of operations. However, I'm failing to get the system running using the wireless bridging (I think its called Ethernet over IP) feature. I've managed to get the wireless link up, but I can't ping any of the client PCs on the LAN of one side of the radio from any of the PCs behind the other radio.

I followed the instructions outlined in the "RouterOS How to List" section of the following link : http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.8/. (Look under the "How to Transparently Bridge two Networks?" sub-section.)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks !

Once I had a problem with wireless bridging, on one pc it worked, on other it said 'kernel panic' :) (I wanted to make AP). Sometimes helps just redoing from begining or even reinstalling OS.

About the kernel panic -- some radios don't support 5GHz (b/g radios) and if you try to enable with 5GHz, then there is a crash. We will fix this to recognize the b/g only radios correctly.
