Making 2.4 and 5.x AP - the best wireless AP cards

Tue Aug 10, 2004 12:38 pm

Hi

I would like to buy 2 wireless cards from you (Mikrotik) one 2.4 and other 5.x, so I need to know which type is more powerfull, better, stable ... that you offer.

I want to buy these from you couse I definitely trust Mikrotik couse if you say that THIS is best or this has 200mw, than it should be like that.

Also same question to Mikrotik users and their experiences with AP 2.4 and 5.x cards, I would like to know what is BEST.

you should write to sales@mikrotik.com for an offer, not all mikrotik staff are replying to posts in this forum.

for 2.4Ghz you can use a 200mW prism card, which has the most power.
for 5Ghz you can use our AB card which has 100mW and with that number is more powerful than the other 5Ghz atheros cards. We only supply good equipment, so you can't ask us which are better - they are all good and tested to be working perfect. The difference is in frequencies and modes.

hi,

feel free to buy cards from mikrotik, if you can afford them - they are fine and use quality amplifiers.

Also, you could be almost sure that all cards with atheros will do fine in environment without too much interference and they are not good 802.11b performers (some stability reports have been raised). If you can, try to look for cards, based on latest atheros reference design (mb42).

bye, mp3turbo.

I thought that Forum is for this purpose, not for private use but it is in EVERYBODY's interest, so I made question here, and if you can see normis, I newer asked for price, so I was not interested on prices, I know the prices, but I needed comments, like mp3turbo2's. More hints from others will probably help not only me but others too.

non mikrotik products should not be promoted here, because mikrotik actively supports this forum and this is a general policy which you could read when registering.

But you spent money/time/knowledge... to gain knowledge of what/how/why, I believe its good choice to share it and be helpful to especialy new potential customers, and also earn money which you realy deserve. By the way, you HAVE to say us what you are selling to us :).

The rules are meant to focus this forum on MikroTik RouterOS question and products. This can be considered positive for those that have large systems based on our products and come to this forum for a specific reason (RouterOS questions). For those users, the rules assure then that they will not waste time reading about other topics and products.

When you are interested in general wireless products and questions, then there are plenty of other forums and mailing list that are completely open -- and you should use them. Use this forum according to the forum rules and use other forums also according to their rules...

The rules do allow people to post things like "Radio X from MikroTik does not work -- it is bad." So you should get the information on this part of your question.
