Tue Aug 10, 2004 12:34 pm

There is no appropriate Forum for this question so I decided to put it here :).

So Mikrotik guys: I have a basic licence of 2.7.7 and it was installed in a 40gig HDD, now my HDD broke :( (it does grgrgrgrgr) and ofcourse I lost HDD and licence :), also I would like to get my licence back and upgrate to 2.8.x (newest), so tell me what I have to pay.

I wanted to send you e-mail, but I hope maybe sometimes would be helpfull for others.

what you have to do is to go to the account server, log in and click on `i have a broken hard drive`. If a hard drive breaks, you have to move the license to another one which costs 10$ (read the FAQ).

Yes I know about 10$, but I also want to upgrade to new version :) (it is way more than 1 ear).

if it was a lot more than one year then it will be cheaper for you to buy a new license, because the extension license will only add 12 months to the original upgrade deadline date.

for example if your license expired in 2002, then the extension license will make it upgradable until 2003 - but you don't need that, you need 2005. so it is cheaper to buy a new license.

upgrade license is useful if the license has expired recently.

so in your case - the replacement key fee + the upgrade time addition will be more than a new license. this is only if your license really has expired many years ago (2 or more).

That is what I was wondering about, is it cheaper to buy new or ask for replacement.

Next time try answering all questions in one reply ;)
