VPN passthrough mikrotik to sbs 2003 server - Help!

Sat Jul 03, 2010 8:23 am

Hi Guys,
In need of some help.
A customer has just installed new fiber at their office.

Network setup:

Cloud fiber connection - Mikrotik 750g - Switch - SBS 2003 Server aka VPN server.

I want to allow external users to connect to the network via a VPN. The sbs 2003 server is running as a vpn server. AD for authentication.

However for the life of me, I can't get the mikrotik to forward the VPN traffic to and from the sbs server.

Please take a look at my rules and tell me what I need and don't need. As you can see there is a few, as I've been trying a few ideas.
Also, do I need to make any dst-nat rules under nat tab?

Why don't you use the Mikrotik as a PPTP server? That would be a reasonable choice. And Win2k3 resources would left for more important things - RDP/shares/exchange

Fixed the issue. I wasn't forwarding gre in nat. Had it in filter which was in the wrong place.....

Re pptp server. We use sbs 2003 for AD log in etc. Just makes things easier.
