RB433AH + R52H - multipoint link - best speed???

Thu Jul 08, 2010 2:54 am

Hi there,
I have RB433AH with R52H card using b/g mode and 16dbi omni directional antenna with 20 clients connected to it.
What is the best speed i can acheave and is there a way to improve it with a new wireless card?

Clients are nanostation loco 2 and Edimax access points with Grid antennas.

Currently i can acheave a maximum of 11mbits...but it is not enough.
I need at least 20mbits for the moment. I want to evade placing other APs right now so i look for some improvement.
Cant use 2.4ghz-turbo and nstreme becouse of the clients devices.

Any suggestions?

Regards, Ventsi.

Nstreme is good for point-to-point links.
Reality doesn't care for your needs.
Change the omni antenna to some directional antennas (sectors), seperate wireless interfaces each. Will work just fine, if configured right. Don't use b/g, use g.

Hahahah,
Reality really doesn't care :)

I will install in addition some Nano M2 :)
Just was curious if i can reach better speed.
Thanks anyways.

And btw...why is better to use g only?

If they support 802.11G and have connected via G mode, they should get around 30Mbit, if you have good signal.

Hmmm...no improvement.
It seems that the best outgoing traffic from the wireless card is 11-12 mbits.
It is strange as i remember 4-5 years ago i used 2x Edimax APs on 5km link and managed to pass 16mbits ptp...i hope that the CPU of the board will handle the same traffic or better :(

Anyways, thanks for the help.
I am gonna place another AP :)
