MT 2.9.x Flash wearing out issues ?

Wed Nov 02, 2005 7:51 am

Dear Guys,

I'm looking at /system resource print
interface, and some issues that i would like
to get clarification is :

After a few reboot (2-3 times) for exact,

Writes-sector-after-reboot have reached 244 (for 5mins uptime)
and Writes-sector-total have head reached 15496 sector..

We don't change any config or something like that.

In 2.8.xx (2.8.26 / 2.8.28) this not happening,
eg : 2-3 times after reboot,
Writes-sector-total only reaching 2000 s/d 2400 sector.

Are this behaviour is normal ?

We're afraid Flash wearing out issues like happen in 2.7.xx
is happening again in 2.9.xx.

We had checking our logging config, and all of
logging is to memory, none set to disk.

Do you guys see the same issues ?

Thank you very much..

Not on mine... 2.9.4 on a Routerboard 5xx unit

uptime: 2w1h26m19s
cpu: "MIPS 4Kc V0.10"
write-sect-since-reboot: 0
write-sect-total: 0

However even when I change something (like system identity) these numbers doesn't change so I am not sure how valid they are

oh not again the infamous `flash wearing out` topic. it was already explained that this number represents the TOTAL writes per flash, not per sector. even with higher rates, you will be able to live a few years with the flash.
