bandwidth control - what to choose?

Sun Nov 13, 2005 12:09 pm

hi all
i have problem with choosing the best bandwidth control type

1.i can find description for how the pakets travel if i have simple queue rules and queue tree rules at the same time.

2.i'm little confused from bandwidth control manula regarding priority managment. i whant to make some ports (21,22,25,110 ...) with high priority then port 80 for example. how to construct rules to efect all client IPs or group of IPs ?

3.What is the best approach to bandwidth control rules
- make MANGLE rules to mark each IP then make queue for the mark
- make queues for each IP to all interfaces (i have 5 LAN adapters)
- make queue rule for each IP for download and another for upload

can someone help?

I'm using "/queue tree" where queue type is PCQ. So I'm marking whole nets, putting them in the specific "/queue tree" queues of specific type.

If you want to achieve those port priorities you should build far more complex mangle rules. Wheres all markings for a net has one parent (custom, not global-in or global-out) in the "/queue trees". However you should know that almost all your needs could be achieved in the easiest way with MT.

I hope it's at least a little help for you.
