Hi I am homeschooling my son (15) - He wants to be a wireless consultant ...
I have purchased 3 5ghz rb411 RB's with R52 and UBQT 5GHz NanoStation cards for him to set and learn on and for coms between the 2 farm houses - (+/_ 18km with good LOS with repeater in middle )
Just give me basic info so I can get him focused in the right direction (And me maybe some more - I have to check his work )
Not too worried about distance and LOS calcs as we have played with those
I spoke to my local WISP but he just does as he was shown out of a book by a consultant that put up the net.
He did give me the following IP's he uses for his network
Cenario - WISP - The last router (cpe) authenticates
DSL Router Netgear DG834 - IP 192.168.60.1
Office router - Uplink to Mountain - IP 172.30.0.1 DNS
Mountain RB - IP 172.30.0.5 / 192.168.203.21 (Gave me both ip's??)
CPE1 Mikrotik RB411 - IP 192.168.2.1 DHCP
CPE2 UBQT NanoStation - IP 192.168.2.1 DHCP
I assume the 192.168.2.1 ip's are only one side of the CPE routers? Are they? The WISP tech is clueless
Questions:
How do we set up each router to talk to each other (BASIC PLEASE)
can we we do accounting on the RB
How does the CPE's connect ?? PPPOE?? to 1st router??
can we we limit bandwidth to each CPE
can we cap data for each cpe (SOFT AND HARD CAP)
Is there anything else I could teach him on this subject
