Reset button on RB750

Tue Oct 05, 2010 2:45 pm

After second RB750 reset button broken, I am definitely sure that problem is not my fingers. The button is so weak that firs reset is going to broke him completely. Of course it is not tragic but after xxx routers in my hands this is the first time that I have problem of this kind. Of course I am not resetting routers every 5 min, but this is the most weak button that I am see in my whole life. Please change the reset button with some more durable.

If anyone else has this problem, please email us with the serial number. We would like to see if this is just a coincidence, or a design issue.

Is there any other way to reset the board when the reset button is broken?

Wilson.

open the white case, inside on the PCB there is a reset-hole. put a screwdriver into it, so that both sides of the hole are shorted. then reboot while holding screwdriver in place.

yes option B, because normally the frontal reset button works fine. Netinstall is also an option, but Netinstall is anyway started by the frontal reset button. Netinstall is only required if the software is corrupted. Usually a simple reset is enough.

normis, I tried to reset the rb750 as you instructed above, but i could not find the reset-hole, but saw a jumper with 2 pins... can you show me the right place to reset (rb750 board picture). that will help me know exact place to reset.

Thank you

the hole is on the top-right side in this picture, right above the Hynix chip, to the left of the mounting hole.

There is no need to open RB750's case - the discussed reset hole can be found under one of rubber feet on the down side of the device.

normis, i tried the small hole, but is still not working. I circled the small hole on the picture that i short circuited... remember, by board is rb750g so there is little difference with your rb750.

I had the same problem, but was able to resolder the reset button. The serial number has been emailed to support.

you don't need to solder anything, the circled hole is the correct one, and it always works. see this:

I worked in electronics for 30 years and I wanted to put the switch back on for convenience. I knew about the reset pads as well :)
