I am not certain what you are asking specifically, but I know you can run MT in a vmware environment. It works on the linux platform as well as the windows vmware.

You can run mikrotik in vmware, you have to add two vlance networkadapters to your virtual machine. Offcourse, on your host machine you need also two real networkadapters to bridge to. Or bridge to one real adapter and connect the other one to one of the internal vmware networks.
Create a small harddisk for your virtual machine, after that, install mikrotik using floppy images, or whatever install method you like.

I've been running it succesful on GSX server, to emulate some weird network configs when I didn't have enough real machines for testing.

Serverwinkel:

Quick questions on this subject. I am creating test router installations on a winxp computer, and I do not see an option to create a "vlance" adapter. I am using vmware 3.2 workstation. Are you using a newer version? Also, when I have created virtual machines using other OSs in the past, they see all of my hardwired ehternet adapters, but do not see my wireless adapter. Have you has similar circumstances where some adapters do not show up as available to the vm?

Lastly, the other crucial reason for the post is that MT OS 2.9.28 is giving me an install error that says it is unable to find any hard drives. I have selected the "raw access" mode in the ide0 vmware settings, but that does not seem to help.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I found the answers.

Wireless adapters are not support until after version 4 of workstation or server ver 3.

The hard drive problem was because I needed to change the virtual drive ID to IDE0:0 in the advanced options.

Thanks anyway.
