Mikrotik Atheros bug - 2.9.6-2.9.8

Mon Nov 21, 2005 9:30 pm

I have a fairly consistant bug with Mikrotik...

Our setup:

RB532, 250' POE @ 48v (2A PSU, verified 46V @ RB), SR2 (SR2D_REV1) using MMCX... Pacwireless 13dbi hpol omni...

Normally the setup works great - our interference is zilch (rarely finds anything if I kick snooper on, and when I do its consistantly WISPs >50 miles away)

About three times a week it decides to randomly quit responding to clients, acting like there is an unbelievable amount of interference - including knocking everyone off the AP indefinetly...

The problem instantly goes away if I fire up winbox, load up the wlan1 config and press apply (NO CHANGES MADE). The signal levels return to normal and the bits return to their normal flow...

I have confirmed the clients do not see the signal problem on their RX side.

I've verified this occurs with 2.9.6, 2.9.7 and 2.9.8 (not using wireless-test).

Any ideas?

Thanks!

This is not good news... I've noticed this problem for the first time after switching to 2.8.26, but not since upgrading to 2.9.x.

No problem with 2.9.6 and SR2 on a normal PC.

Enabling periodic recalibration fixed it

Mon Dec 05, 2005 7:05 pm

Setting 'periodic recalibraton' to 'enabled' from 'default' seems to have corrected the issue...

I'm guessing it wasn't running the thermal recalibration on the cards. The issue consistantly occured within a few hours after sunrise...

Thanks!

May i markup that upgrading from 2.8 to 2.9 may cause some issues within wireless and basic static-routing, try a system reset and our problems will be disappeared.

Please enable the 'periodic recalibraton' for this card and also lower the tx-power as written above.
