A beginner problem

Wed Jan 05, 2011 2:49 am

I have the folowing wireless setup at home:
(My target is to get, from the Laptop, the comtrend router and the internet.)

Laptop (((((( )))))) MkTik (((((( )))))) Comtrend-ADSL
192.168.0.2 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.1.5 192.168.1.1

The Laptop is a Wireless Station dhcp client.
The Mikrotik radio 2 is an AP and dhcp serv. (to PC)
The Mikrotik radio 1 is a Station and dhcp cli. (to Comtrend)
The Comtrend is an AP and dhcp serv.

Mikrotik routing table:

# DST-ADDRESS PREF-SRC GATEWAY DISTANCE
0 ADS 0.0.0.0/0 192.168.1.1 0
1 ADC 192.168.0.0/29 192.168.0.1 wlan2 0
2 ADC 192.168.1.0/29 192.168.1.5 wlan1 0

Comtrend has another static route entry to know how to get back to the 192.168.0.0 network.

destination: 192.168.0.0 gateway: 192.168.1.5

If I setup (in MkTik) a NAT rule for masquerade network 192.168.0.0, I can reach the Comtrend and the Inet.
But how can I get to the comtrend and the inet just with static routing?
Is the NAT the only way to do it?

If I set up static routes to get the comtrend, I can reach Comtrend but not the internet.

Thanks a lot

Jose

Configure the Comtrend to NAT 192.168.0.0/29 as well as its directly connected network, which may or may not be possible

Thanks Mr. Fewi for your prompt response and my apollogies for the delayed reply.

In fact, doing the NAT on the comtrend worked, so my first and second questions
are answered:
It's not possible to do it just with static routing.

Always you get out from a private network with privates
addresses to a public network you'll need to do NAT.

I told you a beginner question. ; )

Next time i will attach the appropiate info for a better understanding.

Again Thanks.
