everything was going fine, since a big ISP launch in my city, slowly this BIG ISP is eating up my costumers, they are offering 2Mbps speeds over wireless(2.4 Ghz), they are installing ruckus wireless CPE and ruckus wireless access point and they are using mesh. for back-haul they are using Nano bridge-M .

they are offering 2 Mbps for few limited GB's and then the speed shifted to unlimited 256kbps or 512 kbps for the rest of the days for a monthly billing cycle. and they are selling it at very very cheap rates.

i m not able to fight with them, more over they are not charing anything for installation, they are doing it free.

i can give competitive rates for internet plans even lower then their plans, but i m thinking and doubtful that how my mikrotik+433AH+sector can handle this huge amount of traffic, as at present it boils at a max of 30 users only while mostly using 256kbps unlimited and only 10 percent of my users use 512 kbps unlimited..

plz help how could i fight with them and offer same speed..thx..

Sounds like they have alot of money. I'm not sure if they are a new start-up or an existing company. Either way they are taking a big hit every time they do a free installation. So they can't do it forever. I offer 2MB to my customers with Mikrotik and Ubiquiti gear; so I know it is doable. Some of my AP's have as much as 45 on them. You just have to monitor traffic for the hogs and either have them cease their bittorrent or ask them to move on. Now you don't have have to match them at 2mb; you could just offer some more bandwidth (say maybe 1MB down). Two MB vs 256k is quite a difference. But 1MB vs 2MB doesn't seem to carry as much.

Remember people will stay with you if you can offer them good support and service. Typically the first to jump ship are the bandwidth hogs that are probably losing you money anyway. In fact, that is one reason I don't like to move in and compete with other WISP's in a small market. Seems like I just get the crap high bandwidth users.

Also you can do a free installation but with 1 year contract, equipment stays in u'r property this is easy part
hard part is u must offer bigger speeds like 1mbit or >2mbit do it with the trick "I give u UP to 2mbit"

how u do it. can u plz paste your AP and CPE Configurations and which ubiquity product u use for your cpe.

Use MT RB450G or 493Ah for routing and nat-ing and for Sectors use Ubiquity AirMax Mimo Sector 16db or 19db with Rocket m5. For CPE's use Nanostation M5, NanoBridge M5... U can give speeds up to 10Mbps per user. 1 Sector can handle 30,40 users(depending on how much they use)...

ahhh... thx for replying, i dont use 450G and 493Ah sort of thing in my network..i receive bandwidth over Ethernet and then i got a server in which a Linux based bandwidth management software is installed through which i create users, create ip pools create post and prepaid packages, implement firewall, nat-ting, routing, make prepaid voucher.etc..
so could u plz suggest any such software,

Does ur so BIG ISP still exist in the market?? R they still continuing successfully with RUCKUS hardware.
what is the feedback from the BIG ISP's users.

yes that big ISP is still in market and previously they were using locostation 2 as CPE and ruckus at their base station. but now they are using rukus for CPE TOO. BUT FOR BACKHAUL THEY ARE USING NANOBRIDGE5. they are going on and on and capturing a huge market...they are spreading like a huge cloud over the earth...its hard to retain our the coustomer.

If u are giving proper service to ur customers TIKONA can do nothing .. we are taking TIKONA head on. and they can't even touch 1 customer. I agree they have very competitive pricing but pricing is not our USP. BTW which city r u from?
