Hi all, happy new month.
I just manage to install mikrotik 2.9 on vmware workstation 7.0 but i don't know how to connect my winbox (from my win 7 host) to the mikrotik running on top Vmware.
the network card is set as bridge when i was installing the mikrotik.
any help will be highly appreciated.

Why did you use version 2.9?

I assume you have access via the console? try adding an ip address

that was the only version i was able to install by my self on vmware 7.0
i added the above ip and try to ping it from the host but it was telling me request time out.

and the illustration here is meant for virtualbox not Vmware if i,m correct...

you didnt need to add that particular ip, one in your current network range would have been the best. have you tried connecting via MAC?

i have managed to make the ip work but can't login.

I thought someone could come to my aid and help me in figuring out the problem.

You could try a "system reset-configuration" (caution will wipe the settings), then try to connect with the MAC address.

i have finally figured this out with Oracle Virtual box and am enjoying it.
