How to set time?

Tue Dec 06, 2005 10:29 pm

In the winbox you go to system -> clock. You can set the time and reboot and the time does not stay.

So I went to ntp client and setup the ip address to my ntp server (which I set all my machines too). And while the npt says active it does not set the correct date and time on the logs?

The ntp server is a win3k domain controller and I pull ntp from it from several differnt items like cisco routers, linksys routers, log server.

I'm using the latest version of routerboard o.s. on the older router board units. 232 (i think)

Ideas how to resolve?

Thanks
Michael

Hi, check the timezone on routeros. The rb 500, does not store clock after reboot or shutdown, you must set in NTP client a server to connect and set the time.

Can you be more specific? It is very hard to solve problems decribed by words "it does not work". I use several RB500 and have no problem with NTP. Can you please post status information of your NTP client? (system ntp client print)?

Both ntp server and rb500 are on routable IP address on the same class-c network.

I have a win3k server with ntp server running that I set my servers to sync too. I also sync several other third party items such as linksys GT routers that are across my town wireless system. They sync up just fine. but the rb500 does not.

The ntp client screen shows the the ip address of the npt server, it even says "reached" in the menu. I am running 2.9.8 o.s.

Can you try another public NTP server? (List of NTP servers you can find for example here: http://ntp.isc.org/bin/view/Servers/WebHome).
