routing problem

Thu Dec 15, 2005 7:29 pm

Hi.

I have a routing/traffic shaper problem.
I have a router what routes the LAN traffic and Internet. I want to create traffic shaper rules for the LAN traffic, and Internet traffic too. The Internet comes from PPPoE via a WAN NIC, and the LAN via a LAN NIC. I created a PPPoE interface of course.
It seems I can create shaper rules only if I set the PPPoE interface as the interface to the rule, but then the upload become the download, and so on, so not really good. But the rules don't designed to use this way. But if I use them in normal way, the rules can't recognize the difference the traffic comes from the LAN, and go to LAN, or come from LAN, and go to Internet (PPPoE interface)

I think it would be the solution if I put an another routing in the router, what routes the traffic again what go to the Internet, and then I can set up the traffic shaper rules on this routing, but I don't know how.

On the other hand, I think it's a common thing in the routing world if we want to shape the LAN traffic, and shape the Internet in the same router, so if there's someone who done this, please tell me how.

Thank you.
