RS-232 Bridge over IP

Thu Mar 10, 2011 12:59 pm

Is it possible to use 2 routerboards to act as a bridge for the rs-232 port over ip?

I do not want to use the VPSE software (http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Serial_Po ... 7_COM_port)

... but a routerboard as an rfc2217 client.

as far as i know you have to make one end to create tcp/ip connection to router. That is why that software is used, as it enables you you to log in both routers and then just pass data from one tcp/ip connection to another thus allowing you to connect two ports together.

Hello!
Not to create a new theme - ask your question here (I hope that the author of the topic will not mind.).

There are two devices (not PC), which can only communicate via the serial interface (RS-232 2400 baud).
Required to make a remote connection between them.

Currently, these devices operate through two Mikrotik router. In MT set / system port remote-access.
Additionally, using a program VSPE, which is set up a bridge between the two TCP-clients.

Everything works, but I would not use the PC with VSPE, but only function RouterOS. Is it possible?

PS Test the connection to the remote Mikrotik through TP-Link router (firmware OpenWRT package remserial in client mode) is successful, but again, additional equipment is not desirable.

PPS I apologize for using the Google translator.
