DHCP Failing

Wed Dec 28, 2005 7:15 pm

Forum. We have been having major problems with DHCP failing on one of our boxes. We only use DHCP on this one box and we have continually upgraded as new versions of Router OS have come out, but to no avail.

The problem we are having is that the log file states that the DHCP pool is empty and the server failed to give out an IP Address? We are moving from static IPs to DHCP in the near future, but are concerned about the reliability of DHCP on the Mikrotik ? We have only 50 users on this box, but nonetheless it still states the pool is empty ?

Has anyone expereinced this or have any suggestions? Upon rebooting the box, the problem seems to go away for a couple of weeks.

Thanks in advance.

I do know that we tend to have problems if we don't check the "Authoritative" box. Also, you might make sure you are on the latest firmware. I have run into problems if there is another DHCP server on the same ethernet. You can setup an alert under the "Alert" tab to detect rogue dhcp server's on the network.

Thanx Eric. We'll give that a try.
