"Stale" user connection causes interface to stop forwarding

Sat Apr 16, 2011 3:33 pm

I have been having an issue that seems isolated to the 4.16 APs only where a user connection will stay in the table while its last activity counter runs on and eventually causes the interface to stop forwarding. As soon as the offending connection is removed from the registration table, the interface begins working again. Do not have these issues on any of our older APs and not all of the 4.16 devices are having the problem.

I finally remembered to get a screen shot and post a question. Is there a new setting that I am missing? Anyone else see something similar?

If you are running the NV2 package you need to either enable the "stable" wireless package or upgrade to 5.0/5.1. Be careful if you upgrade to 5.0 because you need to downgrade to the standard wireless package on 4.16 before the upgrade otherwise the wireless package won't be enabled on after the upgrade to 5.0.

4.16 with nv2 wireless package was a nightmare. The sooner you upgrade from it the better.
I had tons of issues, amongst them ´stalling´ 3rd make stations. Several other reported the same.

I always made the client to power off>on to bring the unit back. I'll guest your ´remove from access list option´ might have worked as well.
But now, in 5.1 reality I haven't seen any 3rd party station stall on me again and I am talking more than a week running 5.1 on several of my AP's.
I think it is really safe to say that regarding the wireless 5.1 is stable.
