Problem with using Radius Server.

Mon Apr 25, 2011 11:22 am

I have configured the system successfully with standard user Management(as Hotspot). Now I change the Hostpot profile to use local Radius server.

What I can see in the Console that "Testuser" login successfully. But after login will not shown the target webspace. Just I see login page.

If I disable the hostspot then Internet surfing works fine.

My question is, do I have to change any thing in Login.html if I change usermangenet form Winbox to radius server?

or you you have any hints for my?

Thanks in advance.

Did the hotspot work ok with the local user database?

No changes are needed to the login.html page to use RADIUS.

Have you tried using an ip address rather than a domain name to login? I usually recommend trying www.google.com to login. If that does not work, try using an ip for google to login.
http://74.125.113.105

I also add the hotspot and radius to the system logging.
/system logging
add topics=hotspot,debug action=memory
add topics=radius,debug action=memory
Then try the login again and check the log.

If the radius response appears to be timing out, increase the timeout value
/radius
print detail
set 0 timeout=2s

Dear SurferTim,

thanks for your quick answer.

yes, it works fine with "local user database".

/radius print detail give me following message.

Service = hostspot callerID = "" Domain= "" address = 192.168.1.1 secret="123456" auth-port=1812 accounting port = 1813 timeout=2s accounting backup=no realm=""

for more details of log please have a look in attached image.

Thanks again

What RADIUS server are you using? Check the user data for "testuser". It should only be a user and password entry. There should not be an ip address, group, or anything like that. If you have questions, another screenshot of the "testuser" user data from the radius server would be good.

ADD: You are getting logged in under the "testuser" user name, but the RADIUS server assigns a 127.0.0.1 ip to that user. Not good.

If the radius server is User Manager and is in the same router, you should really use the 127.0.0.1 ip as the RADIUS server address in "/radius". Set up a radius client (under "Routers") for 127.0.0.1 in User Manager.

Thanks first!

I have followed this document.

http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/User_Mana ... ame_router

in this instruction two time IP address will be used. one time I have tried first 127.0.0.1 on both places and the 192.168.1.1 this is the IP of the NIC where Hotspot is running. No success.

please also find the full config. User name : admin Password : no password

!!!!!! User managent tells that "Testuser" used 30min.
I thnig the Radius server bind the IP 127.0.0.1 after user auth. Any idea?

thanks in advance.

Did you check the testuser entry in User Manager? User Manager is assigning 127.0.0.1 to your user "testuser". That is probably your problem. RADIUS is sending Access-Accept, Interim-Update=600 and Framed-IP-Address=127.0.0.1. The ip address 127.0.0.1 is crashing your hotspot service according to your log.

Open User Manager. Click on "Users". Select user testuser from the list. You will get a page "edit user" for testuser. Verify there is nothing in that record except the user name "testuser" and the password. Is that correct?

What version RouterOS are you using?

Hello SurferTim,

Thanks a lot. You are right. I didn't check the user. I put also in the user details 127.0.0.1.

:D I removed and work my Radius server !!!!! :D
