Sierra cards MC8781 - some work some not

Tue Apr 26, 2011 12:03 am

I have exact MC8781 cards - same firmware version, both works 100% on my netbook with Sierra Wireless Watcher but only 1x works on my Mikrotik.

The weird thing is that the card just doesn't seem to register on the network. All AT Commands like at!band at!selrat etc gives error return message.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? I've tried multiple RouterOS versions, different mikrotik platforms, power supplies, cables, signal strength etc. When looking at the info on ppp-client the Current Operator, Access Technology and Signal strength remain blank.

Data channel 0 ; Info Channel 2. Also removed the dial-on-demand option.

Any ideas?

Based on the status message below, can it be related tp the WCDMA channel? If so, where do I change the channel details as the at!band and similar commands give error messages?

Getting there slowly.... For some reason the Radio is always turned off when using in my Netbook.
Although it works when activating the radio, I Assume the radio is also off then working in Mikrotik.

My other card starts automatically

This needs to be run on the INFO channel. Obviously it will not work as init string.
