2.8.13 consoles strange behaviour

Fri Aug 27, 2004 9:50 am

hello,

another strange thing : we VERY OFTEN see "stuck" consoles - you can switch to it by alt-f2, alt-f3 and so on, but you are not able to type anything on keyboard attached to computer. This is not computer dependent, we saw it on many different atx computers, 440bx chipsets, intel 810, intel 815, intel 845 ones... you can switch to another console, alt-f4 for example and you can login there, keyboard works. But not in alt-f2 and alt-f3 - second and third consoles are influenced most. Otherwise, those computers work flawlessly.

Is this a bug? Anyone else experienced this?

bye, mp3turbo.

edit : this happens more frequently when you do something in those consoles, log off and then try to use it once again, ie. after rebooting system, I can login to console1, console2, console3, console4 and do usual "mess around". After I logoff from console2 and console3, very often console2 gets stuck and you can't type anything on keyboard - but you can in console3, console4 and such... until console3 stops responding after logoff. So, I use console4, then after logoff I'm not able to use c4, so I use c5... Got the idea, I hope.

I've seen the same thing, only over a serial connection to a system running MT though. Usually freezes when you're running "setup". Close the terminal window, reconnect and it shows you the next line.... "setup failed..." yada yada.
