New to mesh , chalenge to everyone. (Solved)

Fri Jun 10, 2011 7:12 pm

Hi Guys.

I'm being using mikrotik for about year but never have to face a mesh network with WDS, i would like to know where to start.

That is my senario.

1-RB 1100 - Running as the core of my wifi network with a live ip on it and nat the internet trafic in , running as DHCP, DNS,Firewall and Hotspot.

3- RB 433 - Running as a AP
This Router Boards have each 2 R53H wifi cards , on one wifi interface i have to run 2 SSID's
One ssid is my corporate network and the other ssid is my Hotspot network
SSID - Corporate have to see vlan1 because that is the range ip that is going to push it to the users also this have to be in WDS mode so the users can move around the company
SSID - HOTSPOT have to see vlan 2 because that is the range ip that is going to push it to the guests also this have to be in WDS mode so the users can move around the company
The other wifi interface i reserve to run a mesh network on 5gz

In order to understand this senario i have create a map so you guys can see it.

Ok now i need you guys how do i start it, please am i right in my line of thinking?

Thanks.

Hi,

First, it´s nice to see Portuguese guys appearing here...

That design is ok and will work, but forget the 5Ghz...

The main purpose of WDS is only to provide connectivity to remote devices without Ethernet cable.

In your case, you have direct connectivity from the switch to all the AP's, so there is no need for WDS.

If you are looking for IAPP, Mikrotik does not support it.

Best regards,

Ola Jorge , na verdade sou Brasileiro mas nos entendemos muito bem !!!

Look , you say that Mikrotik will not IAPP , i read on this weekend what is it , and now i got a question.

I will deploy 3 routerborads for now , but the plane is for have 12 Boards and have Wifi everywhere on the Studio and on the Warehouse.

If you saying that i dont need to use WDS , how can my users have the ability of rooming without WDS or Mesh , please just advice me and i will research.

Thanks. e Obrigado!!!

Hi to all.

Just want update everyone here in the forum.

I got this setup working regarding the Vlans it was not a simple Task but I manage to get done.

I did not manage to run the mesh network so what I did I set the 3 AP's (RB433) that I have pushing the same said in diferent chanels.

Is there Any problem to be like that?
