Mikrotik with Sectors and P2P connection

Sat Jul 16, 2011 9:19 pm

Hello,

i currently have 2 bullets m2hp with sectors (180 Degree Each) and covering 2km. Now i have some issues.

1. When 1 bullet m2hp connect 15 connections after that bullet not processing well to next customers. Slow browsing and some internet problem occurring starts.

Now i want to cover more area and also want point to point link connectivity with Grid Antennas.

Some one suggest me to use 5 PCI slot motherboard and remove bullet from the sectors and use computer with mikrotik installation. He suggest
1. Use 2 wlan PCI cards for connecting sector and throwing signals.
2. Connect two TPlink Grid 24dbi Antenna's on other left 2 wlan PCI cards.

Please clear me i have following questions

1. is mikrotik will handle more users and solve my issue of bullets m2hp? (Like slow browsing to users after 15)
2. Is this solution is good? Sectors will not loose his signals ? it they work fine with mikrotik
3. Can i connect P2P with 2 tplink grid on 2 sides. if yes then tell me in how much range i can connect p2p connection with using grid on end point also.

Bit of a overkill for 15 users with mikrotik, rather use one of the 433 rage router boards.

Mikrotik introduced a while back a protocol called NV2 that was designed exactly for this.

Don't know what sectors you use but cant see why there should be a problem, frequencies ranges should be the same.

Of cause, this is mikrotik, you can connect to the space station if you have a big enough dish. 8)

Not possible to answer, to many factors in P2P link, 40 km will be no problem though and much further with no Franzen ops tickles.

Thanks Egate for prompt reply. i have one more question

1. If i use a 18dbm power PCI adopter card. Can i increase the power of card to 30dbm with mikrotik. I hear that mikrotik can increase the power of card to 30dbm.

Can you please confirm me about it.

Sorry cant confirm, what i can tell you is that stronger is not better, had huge problems with interference with that attitude, when i started this game. You get all kinds of problems, sometimes you do much better going weaker. As an example, i have a few 19db, 120 deg sectors with R52Hn cards on 50 Meter mast. Out of curiosity i once tested, was able to connect to them with a 32db dish that was around 40 km away. Juicing up the output is the very last thing to try, if ells fail.

Thanks for replying. i have 2 sectors 180 degree each. i want to use normal pci cards with mikrotik and want to cover 6 km to 10 km with that with good data rate. i am offering 2mbps connection to my customers.

According to your experience is it possible.

On client end tp-link usb 722 with 12 dbi custom made antenna.

Have got some RB433AH as AP with 19db sector and users with standard SXT up to 7km, from 10km i like to start installing grid dish, but i am sure you will do 10 km easily if you have got clear line of sight. Do 2 Meg no sweat, with speed test around 12 M/s. Buzz y changing the sectors on AP to MIMO sectors, this will theoretically double the speed for SXT panels, usually does not work that way though in practice. :)
