RB450 rest the time after each restart

Wed Jul 27, 2011 4:58 am

I have RB450 routerborard and each time I reboot or shutdown the router , the clock time rest to JAN/01/1970 00:00 or if I set the time zone to Abu Dhabi, it reset to 04:00 and the same date. how I keep the time correct even if the system shutdown forcefully.

No. This is a FAQ. Search the forums, this comes up once a week - RouterBOARDs have never had CMOS batteries, so it is expected that they lose time on reboot. You need to use NTP to sync them.

http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/

Look up public NTP servers near you.

Ideally you'll have your own NTP server you can point the boards to and have them synced to. Otherwise search for NTP servers via Google and choose one. They can change however, especially if they are doing a free service, so it's best to have your own that you control.

you can use 0.<zone>.pool.ntp.org and 1.<zone>.pool.ntp.org, zone is usualy 2 character ISO code of country (like 0.us.pool.ntp.org), but not all country codes works, try to resolve them first.
Here is script to update NTP servers: http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php ... 84#p270584
